Being an American (6-year Update)

It’s so crazy to me to think that 6 years ago today you landed in Minnesota. We had so little idea of what the future would hold when you finally made it here (after a very difficult stop along the way).

It hasn’t been easy. Relationships aren’t easy. Multicultural relationships aren’t easy. Parenting isn’t easy. Parenting in a blended family isn’t easy. And I know from the journey over these years that being an immigrant isn’t easy.

But the easiest thing I’ve ever done in my life is love you.

Thank you. Thank you for stepping off of that plane 6 years ago. Thank you for being an amazing parent to the two children that were already here. Thank you for blessing me with two more beautiful, strong, opinionated children. Thank you for being here.

You are so strong, so wonderful, and you are my absolute favorite person. I know so well how tough some days are, but you are the most amazing person I know and I feel so honored to have gotten to go on this journey beside you the last 6 years and get to look back and see how much we’ve grown.

Ek is so baie lief vir jou my man. Virewig en altyd en daarna.
