Being an American (Christmas Special)

So, yesterday was my first Christmas in 25 years away from my mom, dad and siblings. It was extremely difficult, more so than I ever imagined back when it was just a thought. I started the day off missing my family very much… I had gotten the opportunity to video chat with Adri Buys early in the morning. I also got to video with Nadya and saw Kayla for a quick hello. That made things slightly easier.

Then, Amanda’s family arrived. At first it made me miss my family even more, but as time passed, it became easier, better, more festive. It was amazing to see so many gifts under the Christmas tree, as well as the feeling of having a big family together in one place. I got to celebrate Christmas the way that I know how!!. Alex was extremely excited at all the gifts, as kids usually are!! There were toys everywhere!!

In general, it was a wonderful Christmas, spent with wonderful people! Thank you Christine, Kerry, Rich for all the effort you put in to make my first Christmas away from home so memorable, and to make me feel like I have been part of the family for much longer than just a few months! I am very grateful to have been accepted into the family <3

I also want to thank my beautiful fiance, Amanda for all the effort you put in to make this big step so much easier. I have no idea what I would do without you!! You are amazing!! And I love you <3 <3
